Art Courses

Mosaic Art for Youth - Ages 11-17 | $149

Complete a number of interesting and engaging projects, like jar lid magnets, cement stepping stones, small-format wall-art and others while learning the basics of mosaic art. Mosaic art poses unique challenges and provides unique pleasures: similar to creating your own puzzle, the process can be empowering, cathartic, and result in stunning pieces of art.

Young Van Goghs - Grades 3-6 | $73

Unlock the creative artist in your child!  Each day we’ll draw a different animal, using a variety of media.  This class will introduce the most important techniques of drawing and painting, including how to sketch and judge proportions, how to mix colors, and how to add backgrounds.  We'll start each day with an easy step-by-step lesson, and after that everyone may pick their favorite animal and create their own unique masterpieces.  All art materials will be supplied, but if you have a sketchbook started, bring it along.

Introduction to Digital Art - Ages 14-18 | $125

This is an 8 week introductory course for any students interested in learning the basics of Digital Art! The class will help students understand the fundamentals and tools that exist across multiple work spaces and will aid them in exploring different digital drawing software.

Baking and Cooking Courses

Jr. Chef Series - Breakfast 2 | $65

In this class learn how to make some breakfast and brunch favorites, like crepes filled with fruit and cream, as well as from scratch quiche’s! We will discuss quick breads and the different type of mixing methods, while you will prepare, (using the straight dough method)-cinnamon buns! You will learn how to make cream scones using the biscuit method! Students ages 8-13 need a guardian attending class with them. Students 14+ can attend without a guardian, with written consent. (there is no additional cost for the chaperone).

Jr. Chef Series - Rice and Pasta Making | $67

In this class we will discuss several types of rice, the ratio of water to rice as well as the proper cooking methods for these. Make rice pilaf perfectly! Roll your sleeves up as you learn how to make fresh pasta, identify the different flours available and when to use egg or water! Students ages 8-13 need a guardian attending class with them. Students 14+ can attend without a guardian, with written consent.

Jr. Chef Series - Get Mom and Dad to Eat Their Veggies | $67

Learn how to steam, sauté and roast vegetables, and taste the difference in flavors due to the cooking method. Join us in preparing different meats, with different cooking methods using the grill and sous vide. We will discuss cross contamination, and what we can do to avoid it. Learn the proper temperature for several types of meats. Then go home and get mom and dad eating their meat and veggies. Students ages 8-13 need a guardian attending class with them. Students 14+ can attend without a guardian, with written consent.

High School - Intro to Welding - Ages 14-17 | $129

Are you interested in learning how to weld? This is 3 week introductory welding course geared toward ages 14-17 year olds. Types of welding we’d be covering are week 1 SMAW (stick welding), week 2 GMAW( mig welding), week 3 TIG welding. We’ll cover basic mild steel and touch briefly into Stainless steel Tig welding the last week! Safety items needed would be, safety boots, safety glasses and welding gloves.

Teen Creative Writing: Fiction - Grades 9-12 | $125

This class is designed to introduce teen writers (grades 9-12) to the craft of fiction. You’ll learn about the key elements of fiction writing, respond to writing prompts designed to spark new ideas, and have (completely optional) space to share your work. There’s no pressure to write polished drafts—we’ll focus on honing your unique voice, trying out different techniques, and connecting with other writers. All levels are welcome.

Sign Language 1 - Grades 6-12 | $205

Students learn basic skills of the American Sign Language (ASL) used by and for the deaf. This is an introductory course for those wanting to learn a second language or those who want to communicate with people who are deaf or hard of hearing. Clinical and cultural aspects are covered as well as basic tips on how to best communicate with people who have hearing loss. Receptive and expressive sign vocabulary building activities are introduced through class activities stressing conversational skills. Students learn basic ASL questions, commands, and simple sentences. Information about the deaf community is also presented. Students practice with non-verbal/gesture activities, alphabet, and numbers.

Youth Acting - Ages 12-16 | $65

Acting classes will include studying the history of film and theater and those who were pioneers in business. Exploring the drive and motivation to pursue acting, clarifying the types of acting that each student is interested in and the process of reading lines and having fun practicing their art and passion for acting. Students will develop self-expression through performance, learn tools that aid in analysis of a character or scene, warm up the body and voice, and spark the imagination.

Youth World Adventures - Grades 3-6 | $73

Each class we’ll be virtually transported to a different mystery country!  Through photos & videos, music, language, culture, activities, and even taste-testing, the students will have a chance to explore a different part of the world.  Can they guess where they are?  Can they complete the explorer’s challenges to make it back home with a stamp in their passport?  The instructor is a world-traveler who has spent a lot of time living and traveling abroad.  She has lots of stories, experiences, and artifacts to share with the kids from across the globe.  Don’t tell your kids, but countries we might visit include India, China, Germany, Norway, Spain, Ecuador, Kenya, or the tropical islands of the Philippines!
